Rose Thandai – A refreshing, delicious, and aromatic Indian milk-based beverage that combines the flavors of nuts, spices, and rose syrup, making it an indulgent treat. It is a popular drink to serve during the hot summer months and Indian festivals like Holi.

    What is rose thandai?

Rose Thandai is an another variation of the traditional thandai and known for its floral aroma and nutty flavor. It is super rich and refreshing and cooling drink that is perfect for hot summer days or to serve as a festive beverage during Holi celebrations and special occasions.

All you need is milk, rose syrup and thandai masala powder to make this amazing beverage. All these ingredients are blended together to make a delicious, flavorful drink that is often garnished with nuts.

    Why you’ll love this recipe:

    Delicious and refreshing!

Perfect for any occasion such as festivals, parties and weddings!

Can be easily made with couple of ingredients in no time!

    Can be make ahead!

    Ingredients:

Milk – Whole full-fat milk is the best option to make the drink richer. You can also use low-fat milk for a lighter version of the beverage. To make it vegan, replace the dairy milk with plant-based milks such as oat milk or almond milk.

Rose Syrup – Use a store-bought or homemade syrup. To adjust the sweetness of the drink, add less or more syrup.

Thandai Powder – It is an Indian spice blend made with nuts and spices. You can easily make this at home or get it from any Indian grocery stores.

Nuts & Rose Petals – These are totally optional.

    Storage suggestions:

If you want to make it a day before, I would recommend to strain it to remove all the powder from it.

It can be stored in the refrigerator for a day of two.

    Serving suggestions:

It tastes so good when served chilled.

It is a perfect beverage to serve during Indian festivals such as Holi or Diwali.

Serve it chilled as dessert or snack along with samosas or pakoras.

To make it more fancy, top it with a scoop of vanilla or rose ice cream before serving.

    Step by step instructions:

Pour chilled milk into a blender jar.

    Add rose syrup to it.

Add homemade or store-bought thandai powder to the milk. You can adjust the quantities of rose syrup and spice blend.

Blend everything until well combined. Strain it if needed.

    Pour it into small glasses.

Garnish with chopped nuts and dried petals.
