    What are chocolate pretzel nests?

Chocolate pretzel easter nests are one of the easy and fun treats made with dark chocolate, pretzel sticks and mini chocolate eggs. Easter nests are made by mixing broken pretzel sticks with melted chocolate and then shaping the mixture into nest shapes. Once the chocolate has set, the nests are topped with cadbury mini eggs.

The balance of the salty pretzel with the rich chocolate and the crunchy mini easter eggs makes them totally irresistible. These no-bake treats are popular during Easter, where they are designed to resemble bird nests and are usually topped with candy eggs or chocolate eggs to match the theme.

Pretzel nests are very similar to the Cornflakes Chocolate Nests, where cornflakes are used instead of pretzels. Unlike baked desserts, these require no oven and come together quickly, which makes them perfect for last-minute holiday prep.

Pretzels - Use a good quality crunchy pretzel sticks and break them into even-sized pieces for a better look. You can swap the pretzels with cornflakes or rice krispies.

Dark Chocolate - I have used dark chocolate in this recipe. You can use milk chocolate, white chocolate or chocolate chips, depending on your preference.

Mini Chocolate Eggs - I have used cadbury mini eggs, you can use any pastel-colored candy eggs or M&Ms to make the nests look festive.

A full ingredient list with exact amounts can be found in the recipe card below.

    Variations

White Chocolate Nests - Use white chocolate instead of regular variety for a different look and taste. This works well if you want a lighter color contrast with the pastel colored toppings.

Mixed Chocolate - Use a mix of dark and milk chocolate for a balanced flavor and increased sweetness.

With Peanut Butter - Add a spoonful of peanut butter to the melted chocolate for a slightly nutty flavor. It pairs really well with chocolate. If you love this combination, try my Peanut Butter Blossom Cookies, Buckeyes, and Chocolate Peanut Butter Pudding. Peanut butter goes well with white chocolate. Check out my No-Bake Avalanche Cookies if you haven't tried the combination yet.

Different Toppings - You can also use pastel-colored or Easter-themed sprinkles along with mini eggs or candy eggs.

With Nuts - You could also add chopped nuts or dried fruits to the melted mixture for a fruity or nutty flavor.

Vegan Version - Use dairy-free chocolate and gluten-free pretzels to make vegan and gluten-free-friendly chocolate easter nests. Make sure you are using vegan easter candies.

    Tips & Notes:

    • Use fresh and high-quality ingredients for the best results.
    • Don't crush pretzels into too fine or too large. Break them into even and small sized pieces.
    • Use a double boiler or microwave for melting chocolate. Melt it carefully to avoid burning.
    • Once the chocolate is melted, quickly mix the pretzel pieces and shape the nests before the chocolate begins to set.
    • Make sure to coat the pretzels evenly with the melted chocolate. If you feel the melted chocolate mix is not enough, melt some more and mix it with pretzels. So that each nest holds its shape well.
    • Make sure you are using a muffin tin or silicone molds to get a neat nest shape. Also, use paper cases or pastel-colored liners for better presentation. If you don't want to use liners, use a cooking spray. This makes cleanup easy and helps prevent the nests from sticking.
    • Let the chocolate egg nests set in the refrigerator for at least 15-30 minutes to set properly. This will help the nests hold their shape.

    Serving suggestions

Serve them as a sweet snack or dessert. It is a perfect addition to your Easter brunch. They also make a great edible gift or party favor during the holiday season.

These work well as part of an Easter dessert table along with other Easter desserts like Koulourakia, Cream Cheese Easter Braid, and Biscoff Truffles.

Since these are small and easy to handle, these are great for kids' parties or scool events.

Keep them away from warm places as the chocolate can melt.
