    How to Make Radish Chutney Recipe for Idli or Dosa

    Healthy and delicious South Indian style Radish Chutney for Indian breakfasts like idli, dosa and vada.

    Ingredients
      

    • 1 cup Grated Radish (approx. 1 Radish)
    • 1 Large Onion
    • ½ inch Ginger
    • 3 Red Chillies
    • 1 tbsp Chana Dal
    • Marble Sized Tamarind
    • 1.5 tbsps Oil
    • A big pinch of Turmeric Powder
    • Salt to taste

    For Seasoning

    • 1 tsp Oil
    • ¼ tsp Mustard Seeds
    • ¼ tsp Cumin Seeds
    • ¼ tsp Urad Dal
    • Few Curry Leaves
    • 1 Red Chilli
    • A pinch of Hing
    Prevent your screen from going dark

    Instructions
     

    • Heat 1.5 tablespoons of oil in a pan and add the chana dal and urad dal and fry until they are golden brown.
    • Add the red chllies and fry for few seconds.
    • Then add the chopped ginger and onion and fry until they are transparent.
    • Add the grated radish to the onion mixture and continue frying for a couple minutes.
    • Add salt and turmeric and mix well. Sprinkle a handful of water over it and cover with a lid. Cook until the radish is completely cooked.
    • Turn off the flame and add the tamarind to the hot radish mixture. Mix and let it cool completely.
    • Grind the cooled mixture to a smooth or little coarse paste. Keep it aside
    • Heat remaining oil in a small pan for seasoning. Add the mustard, cumin seeds and urad dal and let them splutter.
    • Add hing, red chilli and curry leaves and fry for a couple of seconds.
    • Pour it over the prepared chutney and combine.
    • Serve with idli, dosa, vada or any Indian breakfast dishes.
